Dato’ Abdul Aziz Bin Abu Bakar - Chairman [Uptrend International Sdn. Bhd.]

Dato’ Abdul Aziz bin Abu Bakar was appointed as Chairman of Uptrend International Sdn Bhd on 1 February 2009. He received a Diploma in Agriculture from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia in 1975, BSc in Agriculture Business from Louisiana State University, USA in 1978, and an MBA from the University of Dallas, USA in 1980.

Dato’ Aziz was the Alternate Director to Dato’ Pahamin bin Ab. Rajab of AirAsia Bhd in 2004. In 2005, he became a Non-executive Director of AirAsia Bhd. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of AirAsia Bhd and a member of Operations Safety Committee.

From the years 1981 to 1983, he was Executive Director of Showmasters (M) Sdn Bhd, an artiste management and concert promotion company. He subsequently joined BMG Music and was General Manager from 1989 to 1997 and Managing Director from 1997 to 1999.

Dato’ Aziz serves as Chairman of PAIMM (Academy of Malaysian Music Industry Association) and PRISM (Performance and Artists Rights Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.), a music performers collection body. He is also currently the Executive Chairman of VDSL Network Sdn Bhd.
